My uncle was in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a radio operator-gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator bomber with the 392nd Bomber Group, 578th Bomber Squadron, stationed in Norfolk, England. It amazes me how young the men who answered the call to defend democracy really were.
