On December 19, 1975, Dad retired from FBIS after 25 1/2 years of service. The following April, he was presented the Career Intelligence Medal for outstanding performance of duty. At the award ceremony, Mr. Paul Walsh, the Associate Deputy Director for Intelligence, made these remarks:    In looking at your record ... there was one compliment that was in almost all of your evaluations, which I think, for somebody in the business of writing and producing intelligence, is kind of the supreme accolade -- namely, all kinds of comments about your craftsmanship in the English language and the fact that you are one of the, if not the, best writer in FBIS."
