In 1989 I completed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider training course and acquired my motorcycle license. Soon after I purchased a 1990 Kawasaki EX500 for $3,677. I loved the bike's size, looks, and the fact that Cycle World magazine had given it its Best Handling Motorcycle award that year. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that another reason I bought the bike was to try to look cool and meet women.
